"SL" is committed to providing relevant programmes and to preparing teaching personnel
responsive to the needs of contemporary University education at linguistic departments.
"SL" is also committed to enhancing the professional skills of teachers, counselors,
linguists to render them capable of providing quality education to multicultural
learners. This commitment includes preparing educators and students who are: reflective
decision makers, effective performers, culturally sensitive, and hold a global perspective.
These outcomes comprise the major purpose of the educational preparation programme.
Our misssion (goals)
The Mission of "SL" is to ensure an excellent junior, secondary and high school
education in the sphere of foreign languages for all students (school children)
by providing innovative, challenging, and diverse learning opportunities which address
specific developmental needs of each student (school children) in a secure environment.
Some of the goals we are attempting to achieve at "SL" are:
- We encourage students (School children) to get involved in various linguistic clubs,
workshops, language classes, and other activities that are available to them.
- We believe that successful experience each day at "SL" is what makes students (school
children) eager to return the next time (session).
- We seek to challenge each student (School child) academically. Achievement is recognized
and rewarded through several unique recognition system.
- We try to keep parents informed about student progress.
- We are committed to a quality education for your child. Your support and assistance
are vital to this process to make "SL" a good place for learning.
Our objectives
- Development of methodology compliant with contemporary teaching requirements;
- Analysis and interpretation of empirical materials, development of language programmes
and teaching procedures;
- Provision of required academic literature for study use groups;
- Coordination of pedagogical international exchange programmes;
- Working out new methods of educating a creative and democratic young generation;
- Logistic support of the programmes;
- Coordination with youth non-prophet organizations and governmental organizations
of Udmurtia Republic;
- (Information) support for young scholar of Udmurtia Republic.
Practical importance
Practical importance of the programme lies within the main Principle of Learning
Foreign Languages - application of pragmatic and intercultural approaches that aim
to shape a linguistic-minded personality with multicultural outlook. In terms of
educating creative and democratic personality the priority is: reflective decision
making, a good referral to acknowledge positive and helpful behaviour, standing
one's point of view, respect for all people, cultural sensitivity. Authorization
is not acceptable at "SL".
Scientific importance
The basis for the language courses requires work at linguistic lab using video and
audio materials. That allows to see the students peculiarities of colloquial speech
and their usage in foreign language. Our teaching staff works hard to create new
forms and methods of teaching foreign languages. Psychological testing is the best
way to set up educational work at "SL".
Means of accomplishemnt
Logistic support: over 2000 study guides and text books written in cooperation with
foreign native speakers. Over 250 video tapes about English/German speaking countries
(the major part of videos is made by Russian tutors during their exchange visits.
Over 400 audio tapes with study materials (songs, radiocast, study texts, front
page news' topics, etc).
The programme works (goes) in two phases
during (school) academic year and school breaks.
- Language courses - day department, long-distance department;
- English/German traditions' performances;
- Annual foreign language contests among the schools of Udmurtia;
- Recreational outdoor week-ends;
- Teaching seminars for teacher and school children in Udmurtia, outside Izhevsk;
- Language Summer camps preparations.
- Five language camps during each school break
