Educational work
The main aim of work of educational institution "Santa Lingua" is preparing, organising and running classes of foreign languages, it is based on the latest teaching methods of Russian and Foreign specialists who develop their programmes specifically for students of secondary schools and undergraduate students. The classes run throughout academic year and school breaks.
- Language courses Language courses are based on pragma-linguistic approach when using empirical materials (video and audio tapes) in the language laboratory. This allows detecting some language aspects of colloquialisms, context of their use, national and cultural differences in every day speech. Our teachers prepare this material framed in lexical and grammatical terms; they introduce forms and methods of productive learning. Testing and writing questionnaires is one of the psychological aspects of this whole process.
- Organising activities, which tell about culture, history and traditions of foreign countries. "Santa Lingua" Club of foreign languages invites those who are interested in world traditions. 85 native speakers from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, England, The Netherlands, Germany, USA, Mexico and Japan have participated in the club.
- Organising language contests for high school students of Udmurt Republic. The language contest was designed to support young talented schoolchildren who have well-developed skills in foreign languages. The contest helps to strengthen connections between children from cities and villages of Udmurtia. There were 13 annual language contests of Udmurtia. Participants from cities of Izhevsk, Sarapul, Votkinsk, Glazov, villages of Selty, Pibanshur, Malaya Purga took part in language contests.
- Organising seminars for teachers and students from villages of Udmurt Republic (Yak-Bodya Lyceum, Staro-Zyatsynskaya secondary school, Selty secondary school). Our foreign colleagues regularly participate in these seminars.
- Participating in national and international contests Educational Institution "Santa Lingua" is a winner of grant of Soros Foundation "Open Society" and American corporation "Project Harmony Ink." (2000). The project was devoted to the "Summer school of young linguists" and "Access to the Internet". As a result three participating schools from Kekoran village, Mostovoe village, Igra village won the first prize and were awarded with computers.
- Preparing outdoor linguistic camp sessions Choosing role-play for each camp session, choosing teaching material which would be related to the role play. Teachers of "Santa Lingua" prepare and print study books for each student.
- Organising outdoor linguistic camp sessions Educational Institution "Santa Lingua" runs 8 outdoor linguistic camp sessions during the whole year (each school break, including holidays in May).
Scientific work
Educational institution "Santa Lingua" supports young scholars of Udmurtia. The first university linguistic edition was published in May 1998; linguistic edition "Sancta Lingua" was edited by Russian scientist Dr. I.P.Sussov (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002), monographic work "Structural and functional peculiarities of xenolect" (2004). Teachers of "Santa Lingua" work in the following areas of linguistics: language interaction, speaking skills, intercultural communication, formation of language, communicative, intercultural competency, development and implementation of communicational models in didactical process. Educational institution "Santa Lingua" participated in Russian scientific conference "Social initiatives and youth movements" (Izhevsk, 2000), International conference "Non-governmental schools at the edge of XXI century" (Moscow, 2000), International scientific conference "Professional societies and development of processes of integration between Russia and USA" (Izhevsk, 2004). Publications of thesis "About creation of conditions for initiative of schoolchildren during continuous teaching of foreign languages", "About forms and methods of work when organising process of continuous teaching of foreign languages", "About forming professional competency", "Language centre: a place of culture-mix. Intercultural differences and its influence on communicational, educational and economic spheres of life."

Outdoor linguistic camp makes complex activities interconnected with sports, education and stage performance.
Methods of teaching
Language laboratory was created to support educational process in "Santa Lingua". Language laboratory includes more than 2000 fiction books, study books and books on methods of teaching. Part of those books was created with the help of our foreign colleagues. There are more than 300 videotapes and CDs showing culture of different countries. Some of the material was taken during student exchange programmes "Santa Lingua". There are more than 400 audiotapes with study texts, songs, classical music, radio programmes, etc. One of the recent achievements made in the laboratory was creation of multi-media study programmes. This new form of work in methods of teaching brings us to higher level in distant teaching process. There are several multi-media programmes licensed: "English on the job", "Deutsch. Grundstufe. Mit dialogischen und grammatischen Sprechstrukuren, Ton- und Videoaufnahmen", "Sprachkurs. Deutsch. Mittelstufe. Phonetik, Grammatik, Kommunikation, Gesprachsverhalten in Texten, Ton- und Videoaufnahmen", "Lesestrassen. Literarische Texte mit Ton aufnahmen, theoretischen Ansatzen zur Textanalyse und Textinterpretation", "Some aspects of translation of English grammar structures", "Russian-English-German dictionary in pictures". Teachers of educational institution "Santa Lingua" made a new teaching programme on communication games. This programme allows mastering communication skills and leaving out language barrier.
